I know that this day signifies a lot of emotions for different people here in the US and around the world.

Many of you may not be old enough to remember just how crazy things were on this day over 20 years ago.

I can recall a morning filled of uncertainty and chaos...

Being in my 1st period band class in high school, and watching everything unfold on live tv as planes flew into the Twin Towers in NYC, and the Pentagon.

Many people lost their lives on that day, and many people lost friends and family members.

I recall being in college exactly a year later, and visiting NYC on a SWAC band trip.

Even though it was a year later, you could still feel the tension in the air.

I remember visiting ground zero and looking at all of the photos of the people that were still missing.

Looking over in the distance, I saw total strangers embracing one another and crying together.

Being from Mississippi, and being somewhat removed from the events as they happened in real-time, it was in that moment that I had a new found understanding of the severity of what transpired.

As you reflect on this day, please say a prayer for the kids that lost parents...The spouses that lost their significant others, the parents who lost children, and for all of the countless soldiers, first responders, police officers and firefighters that laid their lives on the line so that we can continue.
